I think this may be the correct way of blogging opposed to the blog I posted on June 15, 2022. Today’s self-chosen topic, scammers/scams. You find a scam e-mail in your inbox saying “Congratulations! You’ve won a fre trip to Mississpi! Click here.” You carefully look at it, and see that something is off. First, the title of the e-mail happens to be “Congratulations customer!” Interesting they’re calling you a customer, also “congratulations” what? Secondly, “Mississppi” is missing an “i.” You look around some more, and find “fre” is missing an “e” so now it’s pronounced “fray.” You check the sender’s email and see complete Gibberish. “That’s weird.” You think to yourself, so you go to hit the delete button, and accidentally press the scam link! What will happen now? Well, I believe I can explain here, well with my experience and an Info Security class. When you click, the scammer/scammers may be using what’s called a click logger which can register your IP(Internet Protocol) address with which they can find out things such as who you are and even your location. If you continue registering, inputting your credit card information, address, date of birth, they can then even use that information to steal your credit card. The best way to go about this is to just delete the e-mail. Carefully. Thank you for reading today’s blog!
